About Why I Love Jesus Workshop
On June 11, 2022 the Why I Love Jesus ministry team presented a Sharing My Faith Story workshop for 77 girls at the PCEA Olosho-Oibor Girls Rescue Centre Workshop in the Maasai Mara region of Kenya. Following a brief presentation on faith by Nancy Carol Willis, the girls had the opportunity to write about their faith and create artworks showing how they love Jesus. Then, several girls volunteered to share their faith stories with the group.
After scanning the faith stories and drawings, the Why I Love Jesus team presented Matron Beatrice Sakuda with a binder containing all of the original faith stories and artworks. Then we treated the girls to a special lunch. Following lunch the girls presented a program of traditional dancing.
It was a blessing to briefly get to know these girls who will grow into women capable of making a difference in the lives of Kenyans. We hope you enjoy reading their faith stories and viewing their drawings.

The Olosho-Oibor Girls Rescue Centre
The Olosho-Oibor Girls Rescue Centre was started in 2011 with 16 girls. The girls came from many different backgrounds. Some were are orphans, some were rescued, some ran away from their families, some were destitute, and some were paying boarders for the high school. The paying boarders offset some of the rescue center expenses.
I visited the center in 2012 with my husband and a small work group from the Outreach Foundation. The 23 girls living at the center were wearing worn and shabby uniforms. Our group donated a set of new uniforms and play clothes for each girl.
We returned to the center in 2016 and visited with 70 girls wearing new uniforms. A new dormitory had been completed, water collection tanks were installed, and solar lights were going up as part of the Lighting Africa Initiative. The center was planning to purchase mattresses for the dormitory and build a new pit latrine.
Now, in 2022, there are 95 girls living at the rescue center. The girls receive a high quality academic education and Christian education.
Head teacher, Paul Sakuda, says that the center has done a lot of good work in the community and for the entire Republic of Kenya because the students are not only from the Maasai area, but from all over. Many students have graduated from this school. Most of them now are in high school, and from there in colleges and universities. He hopes that they will come and help the center, saying, “When I retire we need somebody to come and take over as the head teacher here.”
